  • Chapter 8 will focus on measurement and geometry, this is a long unit and will not finish until around the first of June. Next week, we will continue to work on volume as well as volume of composite three dimensional figures. As of right now the test will be on Tuesday June 6th.
  • After the test we will be putting all of our knowledge about geometric shapes together to create a new school playground.
  • Students have Prodigy game and xtramath.com where they can review what we are learning in class as well as do a refresher course on their basic facts. They are also able to go on Compass Learning to review concepts they had difficulty on during their NWEA test.

  • We will be beginning our final unit in writing. In the upcoming unit, the kids will learn about Poetry and then they will write poems about themselves that will act as an Autobiography of their life. The students are responsible for typing and having pictures for 10 poems and it is due on Tuesday June 6.

  • Students have picked a fantasy book and are reading it in their book clubs. Students will then show how the setting and plot help to drive the book. They will also give their opinion of the book and compare it to another fantasy book they have read. This project needs to be ready to be presented on Wednesday the 7th of June.

  • The students are learning about Mixtures and Solutions. My class has Mrs. Crooks for science instruction.

Social Studies
  • Our last unit in Social Studies is slavery, the students will learn about the dilemmas Africans faced when it came to slavery. There were three places where they faced these dilemmas; in Africa, on the slave ships in the Middle Passage, and in the New World. We will also learn about the Triangular Trade Route.
